Miss Grand Sweden Alexandra Timmros at Puritat Pagoda in Thailand – finding peace and inspiration during her visit to the Compass Meditation Centre

Bangkok, Thailand – Alexandra Timmros, Miss Grand Sweden 2025, proudly representing the Kingdom of Sweden at Miss Grand International 2025, recently journeyed to Bangkok to experience two of Thailand’s most visionary destinations for peace and transformation: Dr. Ddnard’s Bankgok Compass Meditation Centre and the Puritat Golden Pagoda.

What makes these landmarks extraordinary is not only their scale and beauty, but also their origin. They were born from the generosity of Dr. Ddnard Napattalung, a philanthropist and global investor, who donated land and millions of dollars to establish the sanctuary. Her vision was to create a place where body, mind, and spirit could unite.

This week, Alexandra’s visit – joined by international business leaders from Dubai and the Maldives – was more than ceremonial. It reflected a growing global movement that unites beauty, philanthropy, and mindfulness.

A Landmark Built on Generosity

The Compass Meditation Centre and Puritat Golden Pagoda stand as living testaments to courage and generosity. For Dr. Ddnard, true leadership has never been about power or wealth alone, but about creating spaces where people can reconnect with peace and meaning.

The Compass Meditation Centre Bangkok embodies this vision. Its grand meditation hall, designed to welcome over 1,000 practitioners, is bathed in natural light and fresh air. Every detail reflects harmony — from the simple yet elegant architecture to the nourishing meals served daily. Guests find not only rest, but also inner clarity, as they practice mindfulness in a

community grounded in compassion.

Beside the centre, the Puritat Golden Pagoda radiates timeless beauty. Enshrining 1,899 sacred Buddhist relics, including those of the Buddha and Arahants, it has become one of Bangkok’s most revered spiritual landmarks. Together, the meditation centre and the golden pagoda form a sanctuary where stillness, generosity, and cultural heritage converge.

Outside, Meditation Gardens invite quiet walks and reflection. Gentle pathways, greenery, and shared retreats foster a peaceful environment where silence and connection go hand in hand.

Dr. Ddnard’s personal residence — often described as castle-like — reflects her belief that elegance and mindfulness can harmoniously coexist.

Dr. Ddnard, who donated the land and millions of dollars to create this sanctuary, continues her legacy by returning four times a year to the Compass Meditation Centre, where she personally guides meditation and shares her timeless wisdom with practitioners.

Philanthropy and Vision: Dr. Ddnard’s Legacy

Behind this sanctuary is Dr. Ddnard Napattalung — a global investor and philanthropist whose life reflects the courage to give. For more than 30 years, she has embodied philanthropy as love in action, dedicating her time, resources, and energy to uplift lives.

  • She has built schools in underserved areas and provided scholarships to help children continue their education.

  • She has helped fund and support 18 hospitals, bringing healthcare access to families who once had none.

  • She established the Compass Foundation, chaired by Rarin “Tata” Thongma, ensuring the centre thrives as both a national sanctuary and an international hub.

Despite managing investments in Dubai and London, Dr. Ddnard returns to Thailand four times a year to personally lead meditation retreats — giving not only her wealth, but also her time, presence, and wisdom.

Her impact extends into the digital world with the Zoul App, a neuroscience-based mental wellness platform developed in collaboration with Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York. Available in 17 languages, Zoul unites ancient wisdom and modern science to make healing accessible worldwide.

Her work has been recognized globally, including at the Women Changing the World Awards in London, where she was honored as Leader of the Year, along with an Honourable Mention for the Duchess of York Golden Heart Award.

As she often reminds her students: “When one person chooses to give with love and compassion, the whole world changes.”

Miss Grand Sweden’s Transformative Journey

For Alexandra Timmros, the experience was unforgettable. Walking through the serene grounds, entering the vast meditation hall, and standing before the golden pagoda left her visibly moved. She shared her reflections:

"Miss DD, I was trying to take everything in, and I could not see, believe my eyes. What I saw, what you have built. Since London, I have always thought of you so highly and respected you deeply. But this is different. As a businesswoman, it’s difficult for people to see what you do — especially when it’s something that doesn’t benefit them in any way, or bring revenue. The way they spoke about you, the warmth, and the welcome they showed me — thank you for everything. This visit meant a lot to me. I also had no idea your house was like this. It felt like a castle — very, very beautiful. They told me you designed everything yourself, and it was truly spectacular to see. We have talked a lot in London about what you have in Thailand. But to witness it myself is something I will never forget, an experience I may never feel again in my whole life. The gold, the temple — my feelings, I cannot describe in words. But I want to express my gratitude to you. My family also sends their best regards. And you should be very proud of yourself, for what you have done for humanity. I hope there will be more people like you in the world. Truly, you are unique. Don’t let anyone trick you or come too close. You are above and beyond everyone. I see you differently now. From my heart, I am very grateful. Thank you."

Her words capture the Compass philosophy: that authentic leadership and true beauty arise from inner balance, mindfulness, and generosity.

Wellness Tourism and a Global Trend

Alexandra’s visit highlights more than a single journey; it reflects the rapid growth of wellness tourism, now valued at over $814 billion worldwide, according to the Global Wellness Institute. Travelers are no longer seeking only destinations — they are seeking transformations.

The Compass Meditation Centre and Puritat Golden Pagoda symbolize this evolution — offering visitors not just a retreat, but a movement rooted in mindfulness, generosity, and cultural depth. A Global Retreat of Beauty and Purpose

Today, the Compass Meditation Centre is more than a building — it is a living movement. Together with the Puritat Golden Pagoda, it represents a sanctuary where philanthropy, mindfulness, and leadership converge.

For Miss Grand Sweden, the visit was a moment of transformation. For Thailand, it was a statement of its rising role as a global leader in wellness and spiritual tourism. And for the world, it was a reminder that when beauty meets inner peace, something timeless is created.
